Liposculpture is the removal of unwanted fat through suction using a micro-cannula. In most cases, laser lipolysis is performed to melt the fat prior to suctioning using SmartLipo MPX.

 

The Liposculpture procedure involves infusing the fat with a saline based solution that has two main ingredients:
1. Lidocaine to numb fat.

2. Epinephrine to provide capillary vasoconstriction and significantly limit bleeding.

The removal of fat is accomplished as the suction micro-cannula creates tiny tunnels through the fat. The liposculpting takes approximately 1 - 1 1/2 hours. The procedure is quiet, and most patients rest very comfortably during the infusion and sculpting sessions.

 

After mapping the targeted areas of fat with a marker, the patient is made very comfortable on a padded table with relaxing music in the background. The patient is given a small dose of medication and an oral anti-anxiety medicine to help them relax. After numbing the surface of the skin, tiny 1-2 mm incisions are made. These incisions are so small they do not require sutures.

 

Areas Treated by Liposculpture
Areas most commonly treated are the abdomen, love handles, hips, thighs, upper and lower back, bra bulges, arms and neck/chin.

Permanence of Results
The fat that is removed during liposculpture NEVER returns as long as the patient watches their diet, participates in a moderate exercise program, and does not gain excessive amounts of weight. The new silhouette is permanent.
